Episode 28 ~ Blair Johnston

“I am grateful for what I have. What I have and what I have been given the chance to have. As I have said before thoughts become our reality, so I am grateful for the chance to have all those thoughts. Which pretty much says I am grateful for everything that is here.” -BJ

This episode features Blair Johnston who is an Australian from Melbourne, however is a resident of Japan having lived in Osaka for 14 years. This episode is unique for two reasons. Firstly that it was recorded on land in a cute cafe in Osaka while Robert was at port. Secondly the fact that Robert got to reunite with his old friend Blair. They met in 2009 when Robert lived and worked at Universal Studios Japan performing in the musical ‘Wicked’.  After the two met for an amazing vegetarian buffet lunch, Robert couldn't resist having Blair on QuestHands as he is such a positive, conscious man. Robert and Blair reconnected on many topics that they used to talk about years back.

On Death: “It is the grand mystery, but there is also something fun about it. It’s like a new adventure. So given that I love adventure, the fear is a lot less. There is always fear with new adventure, thats half the fun of it. It’s gotta be scary, it’s like a big ride.” -BJ

At the start of the episode Blair shared a childhood story of being stranded on a tree for 15 minutes, hanging there like a monkey. A cool foreshadow because since 2004 he has been co-running PowerArts International with his amazing partner. A world class gymnastics school offering various movement and specialty classes to all ages. The gym keeps expanding and Robert was truly excited to see the growth, hoping on his next visit he can teach there.

“Any small bit or energy, but it together and you get big energy. And you can do many things with big energy”. -BJ

Blair is to Robert one of those friends where the conversation just picks up where it left off, no matter how many years have past. He is a spiritual, conscious living, vegetarian brother. Full of joy, positivity, and love. He lives with 2 birds, 2 dogs and even with a busy full-time teaching schedule has time for his epic hobby of War Hammer. A geeky yet zen hobby of building, painting and playing with these characters. Robert had a blast sipping coffee and teasing Blair how much of a monkey he is, while Blair was sweet to state how almost every question was a ‘great’ question. Truly a child at heart, he students always tell him he is like a 4yr old child. It is so important to have balance, and Blair does as an intelligent wise man, who’s focus is to encourage and remind people the importance of having fun.

“What I teach is a sport, but I don’t like to teach it as a sport. It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about doing it and enjoying what you are doing. And being an acrobat, you know being able to do things like spin in the air, flip in the air, it’s fun. It should be enjoyable. I always want my students to know that, always have fun with that, and then take that fun out of the gym and always be fun.” -BJ

Episode 17 ~ Martina Mozzato

Episode 17 ~ Martina Mozzato

“Since I’ve been vegetarian I’ve started to feel so much better compared to how I was before, like I can’t remember the last time I had a headache.” -Martina Mozzato

This episode features Martina Mozzato, another amazing costumer with an amazing accent. Born in Treviso Italy, based in Australia and travelling the world making dancers and singers look and feel awesome in their craft. It was wonderful for Robert to reunite with Martina, and quite special as last year she was his costumer.

“As an Italian, everyday my hands are doing choreography.” -Martina Mozzato

A fellow vegetarian with a passion and interest in natural healing arts, Robert and Martina laughed and connected on the human capacity to be healthy. Especially the truth of it beginning with ourselves. She made a wonderful statement on how her she gathered a conscious natural momentum for her health and wellbeing by committing to a vegetarian diet.

“For me it’s really easy, I don’t need much. I just have to look at what I have in my life and it makes me appreciate it” -Martina Mozzato

Another few rich offerings were Martina’s reflections on how unnatural it is to repress ones called passions. Freedom to follow, nurture and explore them is crucial for Spirit’s wellbeing, even in relationships. Along with the powerful ease and wisdom having perspective with situations in your life can be.

“. . .It could be worse, and if you leave it at that your problem is halfway resolved” -Martina Mozzato

The theme of this ‘WeeklyQuest’ is SELF DEVELOPMENT. To try a different cooking skill. If you are not vegetarian try to have a vegetarian week. See if it makes you feel better. If you are vegetarian try to be vegan for the week. If you are vegan, you have the week off, go enjoy life!

Episode 15 ~ Grant Higgins

Episode 15 ~ Grant Higgins

“People are going, going, going, going, going, going and I’m strolling. I’m grateful for strolling. The freedom to stroll.” -Grant Higgins

This episode features Grant Higgins, a guitarist from Melbourne Australia that Robert met last year working aboard Quantum of the Seas. They seized the opportunity to record an episode before Grant departed for another ship contract. Grant is someone easy to talk to. He has a calm, constant, consistent demeanour that is open and friendly. Quite different to Robert in many ways, but again there is always that thread of sameness or respect people can meet at.

Grant talks about an array of topics, one being the truth of our freedom to choose and create our lives. Something he gracious gets to do everyday with minimal hours of laboured employment. It truly is our nature to do so and always a remarkable thing hearing when people find that equation to do so in their lives. He told a story about having the same experience, but 10 years apart. One when you are not cognizant and one when you are, leading to the self awareness to choose.

“I think the people that let you kick their asses you will be better friends with for a longer time.” -Grant Higgins

Grant is a believer in ‘touch love’, which Robert found interesting how it related to a major ‘Law of Attraction’ philosophy. To not keep ‘beating the drum’ of ‘what is’ and feeding the fire again and again of what you don’t want in your life. To cut it, stop it, shock it right then and there to stop and get perspective or move in a new direction.

“There are always little things wrong with my body, but I can always just read a book” -Grant Higgins

Grant also challenged Robert on the idea of having a ‘purpose’ in one’s life to be fulfilled and happy. He claims to not need or want a purpose, but to simply rise each day with a new clean slate; and to choose what to do depending on how you feel.

Grant set a few new records on the show, with offering the lowest number on a question, doing a 2 minute rampage, initiating a drum roll before spinning the ‘Quest Wheel’ and maybe even inspiring Robert with a new section of the show. Great fun, which is what life is about.

“Wake up your hero” -Personal Motto from Grant Higgins

The theme of this ‘WeeklyQuest’ is HOBBIES. To focus on something you have never tried before. To dive right on in, even if you expect to fail. Perhaps even do it because you are going to ‘fail’. Try your hardest at something and fail, then get over it. Give yourself a chance to get that tough love happening. even better if it’s something new and embarrassing in front of a lot of people.
